FAQ
How StormPrept works.
Quick answers to how our hurricane shutter membership works across Florida—what we do, what you do, and what happens when a storm is on the way.
Designed for shutter-equipped homes across Florida.
Simple idea, serious storms.
You keep hurricane-rated shutters and hardware. We keep your home on a route, send vetted crews, and handle the timing, communication, and photos around each storm event.
Common questions, clear answers.
Membership • Coverage • Service
How does the StormPrept membership work?
You pay a small monthly fee to reserve your home on a hurricane-route for the season. When a named storm threatens your zone, we install your shutters and return after conditions improve to remove them.
What do I need to provide?
You provide hurricane-rated shutters and safe, usable hardware that meet local code. StormPrept provides the labor, routing, and storm-activation process around that equipment.
Do I need to be home during installation?
In most cases, no. As long as shutters and hardware are accessible and we have any needed gate or lockbox codes, crews can complete the work and send photo confirmation when your home is secured.
Who is actually doing the work?
We partner with insured, vetted subcontractor crews across Florida. They agree to StormPrept standards for safety, protocol, and documentation on every visit.
What if my shutters or hardware are missing or damaged?
If hardware is unsafe or missing, crews will secure what they safely can and document the issue. You’re responsible for repairing or replacing shutters and hardware between events.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. You can cancel before or between seasons according to your agreement. Once your zone has been activated and service is performed in a season, that season’s fees are non-refundable.
What areas in Florida do you cover?
StormPrept operates using zone-based routing across major Florida coastal and inland areas. Availability may vary by neighborhood as new zones are added.
What if roads are closed or conditions are unsafe?
Safety and official guidance come first. If conditions or restrictions prevent access, we resume service as soon as it is safely possible and prioritize affected routes.
